Design Library

In 2005 I started creating binders to organize and hold all of the magazine pages I had cut (ripped) out of design magazines. This was a huge task and it is still ongoing. Every time a huge stack of magazines pile up next to my side of the bed, I know it is time to weed out the pages I like and file them in my binders.

The binders have been helpful for me on many levels. Sometimes I get an idea for a window treatment or I am reminded a great fabric or fun accessory. Other times I just flip through the binders for fun and escape. My favorite category is Coastal Homes (I have three volumes). I was very focused on coastal homes while we lived in California and now that we have decided to look for a house on the South Shore of Boston they will again come in handy.

To demonstrate my attachment to these binders, if we had a fire I would make sure the children and Hazel were evacuated safely and then I think I would run back for family pictures and these binders. My husband, in the meantime, would be grabbing his surfboards and wetsuits.

Over the weekend I decided to work on a post which I have been brainstorming about for a while and I realized my images were really limited to a few websites online. I had about 6 other pictures I wanted to use, but they were in my binders. So, alas, I have really become a blogging dork. I will be scanning some pictures to use on this blog. My posts will be a little sporadic while I undertake this task. For now, here is a snapshot of my binders which are currently held in an old trunk.
