China (as in dinnerware), I love you

I flip for china
I would like to collect more
to set my table

That was my china haiku.
This is my wedding china pattern, Herend's Rothschild Bird

I mixed the white plates with the green plates and green serving pieces. For me it was the best place to start a china collection since it is classic and incorporates my love of the color green and birds.

Many connoisseurs consider Herend Rothschild Bird, first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe, to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild, who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree. (giftcollector.com).

Although I love my china and think it is beautiful, I often fantasize about having other patterns in my large, custom-built china pantry (sigh). I also love modern, graphic patterns like Hermes' 'Balcon Du Guadalquivir' pattern. I am one of those girls who studies the Elle Decor Dining By Design Tables and wonders, "How will I do mine?" I plan on doing more posts about place settings and tablescapes. They are an area of interest and can be varied to reflect the meal, the mood, and the season. I love setting a table for dinner party or brunch. Fresh flowers, placemats, fine linens, napkin rings and china can dress up even the most basic of meals and set the tone for a gathering.
