the dining room before we moved in
Our first place in San Francisco was lovingly referred to as the Treehouse. Before we were married, I used to walk past the grey shingled building on my way to work and dream of living there. It was one of the only apartment buildings in our neighborhood of beautiful bougainvillea covered residences. There was something very New England to me about the building with it's green shutters. When I saw an apartment listed on Craigslist and spotted my favorite facade, I knew right away that we would end up living there. Our unit was on the top floor in the rear of the building. We had trees practically growing into our dining and living rooms and a Eucalyptus tree outside of the kitchen window. These trees provided some interesting wildlife run-ins including a racoon fight one night which almost ended up playing out on our dining room floor. Thank god for the shutters which were closed at the time. Not too long after that we got screens on all our windows though the local mosquitos which were large and very nimble still managed to find ways into our bedroom and keep us up half the night with their buzzing and vicious bites. I will post some pictures of our treehouse next.
